It's simple I love my dog

Finally finished this one for a co-worker who is a big dog lover. She's an amazing lady who is very special to me as well.

28ct lugana 2/2
The gentle art threads.

I only wish I had to use the variegated threads to "flow" with the shape of the letters.  Oh well, lesson learned.

Mermaid Azure update

Here she is so far. I absolutely love working on 32ct lugana.  I don't think I'll ever go back to aida again.  And that's thanks to Amanda aka Mrsmilkybarkid who encouraged me to try it.   Thank you Amanda!

Oh dear!

A first of many with this project. Yes I started another!

-1st time using 32ct lugana
( only ever did 1 project on it before and it was 28ct, and that was just manageable coming straight from aida)

-1st time using opal fabby

-1st mermaid! Which I fell for right away!

AND- it calls for th skin to be 1/1..... If I make it that far lol

Here she is, a cute starter mermaid! Mermaid of azure:
Isn't she pretty!
Here's the supposed finished project, again, if I make it that far:

Box of delights....

Liz Almond has released another beautiful blackwork design called box of delights and I couldn't resist!

So I started it!

This is just the first motif....and I'm doing it on lugana! First time ever using it and ohmygod I'm in love!

Why have I not used this fabric before now? Oh, I know...because I was too chicken to try anything else except for aida.

March turtle trot

March! Eeek March already!
Anyway....on to my projects, I managed to work on 5 of them this month.

Dockside quilts before: (excuse the wrinkles)

After: all done!!
It's just about dry in this pic.  Still need to iron.

A whole lotta latte. FINISHED!  I decided not to stitch the words across the bottom. I rather like it without them.
Still needs to be ironed. I was so excited to get it finished! It's been a UFO/WIP for a year.
Before:

After!

Purple blue green butterfly before:

After:

Winter queen before: (the fabric is not dirty, it's silver lining from polstitches)

After: I filled in some white and the darker pink on the bottom of her dress.

Red before the beading and back stitching

After. DONE!

Happy stitching!

Save the Stitches

I've worked up the courage to try it!  On aida.  I'm just too chicken to try anything else yet.  Anywho...

Here's the start of it:

Blocks 1&2.

Happy Stitching!

Just a few things....

Here are some of the pretties that got me in trouble blew my budget for part A of the SFS.
Some beautiful silks and cottons from fiberlicious:

Silk Mori threads from Kreinik:(they were stated as beginner threads!)

A piece of 25ct lugana.  I ordered this just to try it.  I'm trying to branch out with my fabrics.  I'm an aida girl...but all the other fabrics I see are so beautiful!

On a side note.... if someone can explain the 25ct to me I would be grateful!  I understand the over 1/over 2, but 25ct?? over 2 on this would be equal to 12.5 in aida?  Is that right?  That's like...huge!  I usually stitch on 16 ct aida...so how far off is this 25ct going to be??  Just when I thought I had it all figured out..Geesh!

February SFS

Sad to say.... I can no longer participate in SFS and here's why:

I. discovered. hand-dyed. floss.
And silk hand-dyed floss.
And... In looking through Instagram and other online sites I fell in love with the twisted band sampler,
and the twisted rainbow sampler...
And all the threads that go with it.

I don't have a huge stash to begin with..I just sorta buy as I need. So that's how I justified buying it all. All of it. Guilt free.

I won't tell you how much I shamefully spent this month, but I will tell you that I spent enough from the SFS budget to do me the next 2-3 years.  (Money-wise, not stash-wise, never can have too much stash).
There's no way to recover either. I would be in the negative for eternity.

So I will gracefully bow out and open the space for someone else that can adhere to the rules better than I.   I guess I can always hope for part B??!!

I will still follow and enjoy reading each monthly update from everybody else!

Happy Stitching!

Stitchy partner and a shout out!

First of all, after all the pressure I have put on my husband for years to try cross stitching....he finally has!  And I must say, he is doing amazing for a first timer.  I now have a stitchy partner in my very own house!!  Dreams do come true!

If you lovely bunch of bloggers out there could possibly check out his blog (yes, he made it especially for keeping tabs on his cross stitch) and give him a little bit of encouragement, it would mean the world to me.  He can be found here at Chronic Unit.  Thank you!

Now, for my shout out!!  I want to thank ALL you lovelies for commenting on my TT.  You have no idea how much pressure you have lifted off my shoulders!  Now I can enjoy my TT pieces again xox

Happy stitching!!

February Turtle Trot

Another month gone by...here are my ten.

Take time
Before:

Middle....

FINISH!!!! Didn't think I was going to do it but I did! Yay me!!  Second finish for 2015!

A whole lotta latte
Before:

After:

Butterfly girl before:

After.

A view from a window before

After:

I'm giving up on this one. I did about 6 stitches and got stuck.  I remember now why this became a UFO. See all the blue and green.... It all has to be frogged. .... Ugh. I don't have the patience to frog it.  I think I'm going to give up on this one and substitute something else in place of it.  I have one wip left (I only had 11 to begin with) and I'm unsure if a will add it in to my turtle trot or start something new.

Next up, Mirabilia winter queen before:

After:

Rocky point. Never touched it. Lost my mojo every time I looked at it. Hopefully I can get some done next month.

Same with my picture of my cat. Never touched it.

Dockside quilts.
Before:

After:

Butterfly.
Before:

After:

And last, Red.
Before:

After: she's almost done except for beading!

Ok, so after this round of turtle trot I've realized that I'm extremely overwhelmed with all these projects.  I think it's because 1) my projects are HUGE... at least to me they are, and 2) I HATE having to change projects when I'm "in the groove."   For example..... when I was working on Red, I didn't want to put her down.  I could see the finish line!  Same thing while I was working on Whole Lotta Latte.  It's almost done!! And then I have to put it down and move on to something else...wah wah wahhh.

Don't get me wrong, I love the fact that all of my WIPs are being worked on.  The concept of Turtle trot is awesome!  I just don't know what to do.  I don't want to give up on them.  But, I can't cut them down to 5 projects, because then I would feel like I'm making my own rules and I don't want to do that either.

Any suggestions from experienced stitcher's?  I would truly appreciate your feedback!

Happy Stitching!
