I have a first!! actually, two!

My first first is this 28 ct evenweave.  I've always been too scared to stitch on anything but aida, and every time I go into my fabric stash...this little piece would always scream at me to try it.   So...I did!
OHMYGAWD!! What was I so afraid of???  Took me a couple of times to get it, but when I did....look!! I know it's nothing big, but for me it's a great acomplishment!!  Now I can scratch this off my stitchy to do list.  :)
My second first is a little free blackwork project from Wyrdbyrd's Nest which can be found Here. It's not anything big to some of you (who I have seen do beautiful blackwork projects,) but to me, this is huge!
I've always wanted to do Save the Stitches by Elizabeth Almond, which can be found Here, but would never try it because it looked so scary. I found this little pattern in my stash and decided to give it a go!

  2. Well done on trying new things. Why not stitch on linen, it just opens up new possibilities. I have never tried to stitch a whole blackwork piece but I doubt if I would like it as I don't like backstitching and there are some similarities.

    1. Thanks, Brigitte. I don't see linen in my future...not yet at least. I will try it one of these days!

  3. Good for you for trying evenweave. I'm an aida girl too but use evenweave when a project requires lots of fractionals. I actually find it very nice to work with, although wouldn't want to use it too often. I have tried linen once but decided after just 2 hours that I didn't like it AT ALL! You have chosen a beautiful piece of blackwork for the evenweave and I look forward to watching this one grow. Go you! :)
